The 2025 edition of the HKFC Squash Open got under way with tonight’s opening function at Hong Kong Football Club
After a welcome from HKFC Director of Squash Dick Lau, the attending players, sponsors, club Committee and members were treated to a terrific – and noisy – Lion Dance from the Hong Kong and Macau Wong Cheong Martial Arts Association.
Club President Nick Hunsworth formally opened the event, thanking the tournament team, players, sponsors and club volunteers (and the Dragon Dance team for sorting out his wife’s Christmas present with their gift that he plucked from a Dragon’s mouth!)
There was a birthday cake presentation for HK ladies champion Lee Ka Yi – who sadly couldn’t be present but her teammates definitely enjoyed the cake, while the players signed the tournament poster.
Group photos, delicious nibbles and drinks, and we were all set for tomorrow’s opening matches of the PSA Silver event, the twelfth and biggest HKFC Open.
